About Ganni
Founded in Copenhagen in 2000 by gallerist Frans Truelsen as a cashmere brand, Ganni transformed under the leadership of husband-and-wife duo Nicolaj and Ditte Reffstrup, who took over in 2009. Ditte serves as Creative Director while Nicolaj is CEO. The Danish brand became known for bold prints, vibrant colors, playful designs, and a modern feminine aesthetic that redefined Scandinavian style beyond traditional minimalism. Ganni operates 27 stores across Europe and the United States, works with 400+ wholesalers worldwide, and generates approximately 170 million euros in annual revenue. The brand is B-Corp certified (scoring 90.6 out of 200 points) and releases annual responsibility reports detailing sustainability initiatives. Signature pieces include the Bou bag (made from recycled leather), Buckle ballerina flats, and cowboy boots. In 2019, Ganni launched Ganni Repeat, a rental platform now available in Denmark, the UK, and the US, offering extended wear of collections. The brand collaborates with partners including New Balance, Levi’s (creating the rental-only “Love Letter” denim collection from upcycled materials), and Vestiaire Collective for resale initiatives. Ganni committed to eliminating virgin leather from handbags and shoes by 2023, transitioning to plant-based alternatives like Mylo and Vegea leather. Over 50% of materials used are certified organic, recycled, or proven lower-carbon impact. In 2024, Ganni moved its runway show from Copenhagen Fashion Week to Paris Fashion Week to expand global reach, opening its 25th US store on Madison Avenue.
